Overview

LA28, the organising committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is recruiting a Sport Manager to lead its marathon and race walk road events programme. The role acts as stakeholder manager to World Athletics, World Para Athletics and USA Track and Field, and is based at the Downtown Los Angeles office.

What you'll do

Act as stakeholder manager to World Athletics, World Para Athletics and USA Track and Field for road events
Shape sport workforce strategy with the local athletics community, identifying staff, officials and volunteers
Validate equipment requirements and develop competition and training schedules with international federations
Provide sport input to pre-Games, testing and Games-time planning, including Sport Delivery Plans and venue planning

What you need

Five or more years delivering national and international road events in a leadership role, focused on marathon and race walk
Extensive knowledge of road event operations across leagues, federations, universities and grassroots
Understanding of national and international road events and coordination with US governing bodies
Strong attention to detail with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Proven relationship-building and change management skills

Key facts

Hours: Hours may vary, including evenings, weekends and holidays, particularly during peak event periods.
Travel: One to two international trips a year, up to two weeks each, plus domestic and local venue travel that will increase as 2028 approaches.
