Event Operations Specialist

Overview

This role at Huntington Place in Detroit supports event execution and labour operations at a large convention centre. The specialist coordinates logistics from setup through teardown, liaising with clients, union personnel and vendors. Labour estimates, payroll inputs and weekly client invoicing also sit within the role.

What you'll do

• Serve as on-site coordinator for assigned events from setup through teardown.
• Liaise with clients, union personnel, and audiovisual and telecom suppliers.
• Prepare labour estimates from production schedules and equipment lists.
• Check daily labour sheets and resolve discrepancies with foremen and stewards.
• Enter labour data into accounting and payroll systems.
• Prepare and verify weekly client invoices.
• Run facility walkthroughs to confirm readiness and safety compliance.

What you need

• Minimum of two years in public facility, convention, trade show or event services roles.
• Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, event management or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered instead.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Experience in labour coordination, billing or union operations preferred.
• Able to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, and kneel during setup and teardown.
• Available for evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
