Accounts Payable Specialist

Overview

This Accounts Payable Specialist role in Tokyo leads the procure-to-pay process for RX, an exhibition and business events organiser. The post covers supplier onboarding, purchase orders, invoice processing and payments, and manages a small accounts payable team. It also involves working with business units and overseas finance colleagues.

What you'll do

• Oversee purchase requests, purchase orders, invoice handling, payment runs and staff expense claims.
• Lead, coach and develop an accounts payable team of permanent and dispatched staff.
• Maintain supplier master data and manage payment scheduling and cash flow planning.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing tasks linked to procure-to-pay.
• Maintain internal controls and approval rules, prepare for internal audits and update procedure manuals.
• Handle supplier and internal escalations and drive process improvements within Oracle ERP.

What you need

• At least five years of hands-on accounts payable experience.
• At least five years of team operations or lead experience; formal management experience is not required.
• Advanced Japanese communication skills for coordinating across departments.
• Practical use of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, with an understanding of workflows.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables. English email and online meeting skills and a Japanese bookkeeping qualification are welcome.
